Jane Eyre: The Musical Downloads and Mr Christi

Now that we've all recovered from the news about the casting for JE 2006, we can move on. Several readers notified me today that the links posted last week or so, of video clips from Jane Eyre The Musical, had expired. Lady Branwen has been kind enough to upload them all yet again! She has also thrown in the entire Original demo CD (cast list to be provided once I dig it out of my personal archives).
As always these links will be active for one week or 30 downloads, whichever comes first.

Also, a little bit of Canadiana to go with this post... I am currently editing and annotating an unpublished novel by a Canadian author from the early 20th century. I have only read a few chapters so far, but I am exceedingly diverted as they say! It is called There Was a Mr Christi. Mrs. Christi runs a boarding house in Toronto. One day a small sort of young lady comes to look at a room. She has just taken a post as governess at a place called Rosedale across a ravine from the house. She is shown a large room which is too expensive so she is led up to the third floor. There's a nice, small room there but the governess thinks she should take one last look at the larger one.

They entered the hall and began to descend the stairs, and the hush which had embraced the house was suddenly rent by a howl from the room next to the one they had been examining. Though it seemed an involuntary half-laughing screech, the girl looked around nervously. Mrs. Christi chattered gaily and jolted briskly down the stairs.

I wonder where Mr Christi is...!

Thanks so much for making the Jane Eyre demo available. I had heard a bunch of numbers had been cut from the original run so it's great to finally have the chance to hear them.

There are two other demos but I haven't posted them yet. I really enjoy some of these songs- My Hope of Heaven and the Secret Soul reprise especially!

What is the other demo? And how did I miss getting it? ::panics:: Jane stuff I don't have!!!

Don't panic!

Well, there's the 1996 one, right? I thought these were the 1991 demos. There's 1991, 1996, and then Wichita (which really sounds more like a demo than a performance recording).

Apparently, I insist on panicing. ;)

The 1996 ones? All that I have are the 1991 and the Wichita ones.

But I thought that some of the ones on the Demo CD with the ones from 1991 were from a few years later, or am I just imagining things again?

Oh, they are! I thought you meant a completely different one. Cause those ones were always on the same disk, so I considered that one demo.

It is good to know that I have not lost my mind yet, thank you Kristin. :) Presumably there is an entire demo but chances of us finding the rest of it are probably non-existent.

Thank you so much for reuploading these again! I can't tell you how appreciative I am! I have been searching for videos from this musical forever. I'd be really interesting to trying to buy a bootlegged copy if you happen to anyone who'd be willing to sell one.

You should be careful about buying copies of the musical. Someone offered me one for $20.00 and said that they usually go for $50.00. I think that, since none of us actually were involved in producing it that we shouldn't be making money on it. So, I will see if I can find someone willing to make you a copy at the cost of a disc and shipping. Email me at bronteana.blogATgmailDOTcom so I can get back to you.

Hello,
Does anybody knows if there is a video available with the Jane Eyre Broadway Musical (James Barbour version); or is it only the CD they made?
Thanks!

I know this was posted nearly ten years ago, but I was so happy for a moment when I found it. I've fallen in love with the musical version of Jane Eyre and am dying to try to find a copy of the demos. So when I saw there was a download I was nearly over the moon ... but the link no longer works. I don't know if there's any chance it can be reuploaded or not, but I'm hopeful!
