More Casting and News on Jane Eyre 2006

It looks like we have our young Jane, as well! The delightful Georgie Henley (Lucy Pevensie in the latest film version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) is going to play Jane in the new BBC production- and, it looks like we can expect a Christmas release!

From Georgie-Henley.com:
It has been confirmed to me personally by Georgie's management and agency that she will indeed be appearing in a new role: The BBC's (UK), "Jane Eyre" at Christmas time.

The website indeed also claims the production will be airing in December.

Bronteblog also informs us that the imdb.com page for the production now lists Derbyshire as a filming locale so perhaps the earlier report on filming taking place last week at Haddon Hall is spot on.

I was surprised by the casting choice, but not at all displeased! I think she is a talented young actress and resembles Ruth Wilson's rather elfish look. Miss Henley's second Narnia film is also scheduled to come out in December. The picture is from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

oh my! Even before I read the post, I didn't see the gingham tunic and thought it was little Jane herself peeking out!!
She seems promising!

Incidentlly Georgie is also a Yorkshire lass :)

That's right! I had forgotten she was from Yorkshire! Well, well... Things just seem to get better each day. Did you get a chance to see her in LWW? She stole the show :)

Though I haven't had a chance to see it yet, I heard she was brilliant in LWW too!

She was, indeed, great in TLTWTW – very subtly affecting. I was thinking that she might be a bit to young looking – but then again, young Jane is meant to be small!

This casting must mean that they are putting a bit of oomph behind the production, so it won’t at least be as half-baked as the recent ITV version. Airing it at Christmastime is fairly good, I think. Tenant and The Woman in White were both shown then, I think. May be JE will be the BBC’s big yearly costume drama!

To Mysticgypsy:

The DVD is being released here April 4th, so it should be available sometime soon Stateside :) I grew up watching the old BBC Narnia series- I have them on DVD. I cannot wait to see the other films!

Do you mean the one with Ciran Hinds and Samantha Morton? I cannot bear looking at their mock-up for the burnt out Thornfield...
I think Haddon Hall is a great choice of location (although I was fostering a secret hope that some of it might be done at Norton Conyers...).
