Yet Another Jane Eyre in Production?
Hold on to your hats (and bonnets), friends. It appears that not only is the BBC planning a new film of Jane Eyre, but so is Masterpiece theatre!
The news comes at the end of this article about Masterpiece Theatre's production of Charles Dickens' Bleak House:
Upcoming "Masterpiece" productions include the final "Prime Suspect," starring Helen Mirren, and adaptations of "Casanova," "Jane Eyre" and "Sense & Sensibility."

hmm..but then I don't know what the motive was behind the BBC drama team's concealing the news...
It is very possible that the news just hasn't made its way around yet- or it isn't definate that it will get off the ground. Not to worry, especially now! If the BBC do not produce theirs, there is still the Masterpiece Theatre production to look forward too (but hopefully both!)
Now, when is Villette?!
I'm quite confused with this. Bleak House is a BBC production, and the BBC is also planning a Sense and Sensibility. Also Prime Suspect is an ITV production, I think...
I don't know but I think is also plausible that the BBC project and the Masterpiece one are, in fact, the same one...

Whoa, at first I thought that Gillian Anderson was going to be Jane Eyre and I thought "YE- Wha-?" But then I saw the pic was from Bleak House. :D

I don't know if I should document my gross typecasting (I apologize Ms. Anderson- I know you are a multi-talented actress) But I'll admit, I will watch Bleak House in a different frame of mind. ;)

It is something I had not considered. The two are not often confused here so much as the BBC and A&E are. In any case, this is our third confirmation that a new production of Jane Eyre is forthcoming.

There's usually one new Brontë adaptation per decade, so we were due for one. It should be interesting to see what JE looks like in 2006.
