The Professor in 10 parts!

This is the only adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's The Professor, that I have ever come across. It is not a beloved work. But someone thought it was worthy of a ten part adaptation! Here are the radio BBC episodes, courtesy of Thisbeciel:

One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine Ten

Am I to understand that I am not the only one that I did not enjoy much reading "The Professor"? Though, I haven't listen to the show yet; it might be good.

I have never heard of anyone claiming The Professor as their favourite book. The best that can be said is that it is interesting, or good in places. I enjoyed much of it, actually, but when it came down to it it just wasn't well written. Charlotte always claimed that people just didn't want to read such an unvarnished story but that isn't true. I was frustrated by interests she would draw into the story only to drop them. The characters were all as life-like as in her others but I didn't like them- except for Mr Hunsden, because he was a bit of an enigma.
