Thanks Pennyforyourdreams and bronteana -- it looks very promising! The production of the trailer was interesting...the soundtrack and the reverberating voice over added a odd dark tone.

Thanks for the trailer!

Yes, I liked seamless addition of the child's voice in the end. I do wish they had shown Young Jane though.

Oh, again so very short!
I am waiting for longer clips to pronounce any judgements :)

Thank you! I think I'm liking this idea of a new Jane Eyre movie a bit better... :o) I can't wait to see it!

You are all very welcome! Glad you liked it. See watching "CountryFile" has its uses!

I already said that I liked the running in the rain bit, also I loved Ruth Wilson, dug Rochester's sideburns, and for some bizarre reason really liked Grace Poole and her bonnet/head warmer thingy!

I liked the bed on fire, I wonder how singed Toby Stephens got doing that scene. And also the mysterious red motif. Interesting.

I will keep my beady eye for any other trails and computer and tv box thingy willing I'll try to upload them for you. :D

Looks amazing! Toby has me sold - I said that before and I'll say it again. A few small things, though, that dissapointed me just a bit - it looks like the proposal scene takes place during the day. That takes away from the magic of moonlight and darkness. And in the bedroom scene, it looks like there are lit candles around the bed. Sort of strange, but over all I'm very excited about it.

Thanks penny! Did it really show during Countryfile? Hmm, I wonder what kind of audience they think *that* will attract? John Craven doesn't look *very* much like Toby!

Anyway, I digress. This all looks very interesting. Showing the fire in Jane's eyes would seem to suggest they are going the 'Madwoman in the Attic' route. And well, that does look like an awful lot of fire. I liked Toby's sad look in one of the scenes and Jane wearily falling back on her bed. The proposal scene could be a little more passionate possibly, but, eh, I am being horribly overpicky again.

Not long now!

I watched this over a few times, sleep on it, and I'm not sure what to say. I don't like the trailer as a trailer, but I don't think I've changed my opinion of the show itself. Nothing about it impressed me, or left me with any strong opinions. I found the music and the voiceovers annoying, but the clips were interesting. The acting seems alright, but it is all so short.

One thing that did strike me was that I don't think I would have realised this was a trailer for Jane Eyre until near the end. But I've seen excellent trailers for very bland adaptations so this really says nothing about how good the show itself will be.

Thanks so much for posting the trailer! I'm eagerly awaiting the US premiere, and the trailer has me even more excited. Who knew Toby Stephens could bring the sexy?

Liz : It didn't air during CountryFile, just before it! If anyone did mistake John Craven for TS I'd be amazed. I don't normally watch it, but an old lady friend of mine came over and she likes it. It was under duress really. Though I don't mind, it's nice to look at scenery and Ben Fogle.

Pennyforyourdreams: I saw the trailer in between The Last Night Of The Proms, the News and Match Of The Day!

I agree with bronteana. I'm not fond of the trailer itself, but I'm still dying to see the show.

Thanks, Pennyforyourdreams!

Oh, the trailer seems very interesting ! But I'm disappointed that the proposal scene doesn't take place the evening like in the book...

I'm French, and I love "Jane Eyre" since I'm 10. Today I'm 24 and I live in Paris. I would like see this production, but in Paris I have not BBC One. Does anybody know if this movie would be available in DVD or on Internet ?

To Demoiselle Rose:

The producer has told me in an interview (which you can find in the archives last month, I believe) that there will be a DVD and also that he hopes to include many extras such as commentaries and deleted scenes!

Finally de-lurking here. I've watched the trailer again and again, picking it to pieces in the process. I can't stand the new-age background music and echoing voice, but the clips we see are very encouraging. I hope the proposal scene isn't as rushed as the clip would suggest, but my hope is that they simply cut it that way for the trailer. I am extremely excited for the series now, though I admit I was skeptical at first. Meanwhile I'm trying my best to find a way to get it recorded when it airs in the UK rather than having to wait till January!

And is Rochester showing some bare chest in the fire scene? Ooh la la!

What can I say! I am still in shock! Now I feel an uncontrollable impulse to read and read the book (haha although I always have those mad urges with Jane Eyre).

Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens are much too handsome for my conception of Jane and Rochester, but I have the feeling that they will lead wonderfully this adaptation (I truly hope so!). The best is trying not to judge this version only by this 30 second trailer we have now... oh well, at least the ones that will be able to watch the series on the BBC will inform us all and dissipate our veil of prejudice and anxiety.

-- and I can't help smiling broadly at the idea that it will be coming out for the dvd :)!

My friend and I are completely and utterly in love with this adaptation of Jane Eyre. We think that Toby Stephens was the best find ever, and is a billion times better than Mr Darcy. I am really tyring to show my friend his advert but my stupid school has blocked YouTube, where else can i find it?
