All right everyone, let's play a guessing game. What scene would you say this picture of Rochester is from? I am guessing it has something to do with the wedding scene, judging from his outfit. But it's hard to judge. And what is his expression - is he smiling or not?
Okay, I'll guess that it is from part of the dinner party. The smile looks sardonic enough ;)

He is wearing exactly the same thing as the wedding pic on the RadioTimes cover. He's dressed well, but it's very dark. Good many flowers in the background.
He looks amiable but a bit smug... perhaps this is one of his interactions with Blanche? Hmm. Speculation, speculation...
The article is just... crazy... once was enough, but folks won't quit with the Darcy thing.
It could be a photo from one of the parties, I'm guessing Rochester would put a nice suit on to entertain. Or could it be from after the wedding, he's waiting for Jane in the evening?
I just can't help feeling all this Darcy comparison is too much and they are all going to be proved wrong and Toby's not going to be the new Darcy after all...I'd settle for a decent Rochester rather than a new Darcy! :D
I wish they would STOP with the Darcy thing already! Not only are they two completely different characters, but give poor Toby a break. Let him forge his own identity!

*cough*marketting*cough* Yes, it is getting a bit irritating but I suppose the point is to get period drama fans to give it a try. The trailer was for the non-period drama folk, and we Bronte enthusiasts would watch it regardless (I daresay ;).

I was thinking that, if he is the New Darcy then that would mean a lot of badfic and Mary-Sue-esque novels poping up all over as I hear is the case with Firth!Darcy. I shudder- I shudder to think of what humiliations our poor Edward will be dragged through.
I'm easy to please, I think. I've been told that I have a high tolerance for bad adaptations becase I love to make fun of them. I'll enjoy this one regardless. If he's all Mills and Boon, ripped ruffles and all, I will just have more fodder for my snarkery ;)

Agreed. It would also come as a shock to anyone who is not informed about how different the characters are, if they watch it expecting something more like Jane Austen than Bronte.

He looks like preparing something mischievous, maybe the gypsy scene is just planned in there!
I wonder how Thornton really fared in the minds of viewers when N&S came out. He is also not Darcy-like, but I've heard of him being the "next Mr. Darcy" as well.
It seems to me that any male lead, whether or not we find him handsome, in a period drama is bound to be compared to Firth's Mr. Darcy. There were no shirless scenes in N&S..although Thornton did expose a bit when he loosened his cravat at opportune moments ;)
